SQL92 Standard NOT Available On-line

The "SQL 92" standards are NOT available on-line, as the sale of paper copies generates revenue for the standards bodies. The SQL 92 standards, ISO (ISO/IEC 9075:1992(E), "Information Technology --- Database Languages --- SQL") and ANSI (ANSI X3.135-1992, "Database Language SQL") are both available from ANSI at:
   Customer Service
   American National Standards Institute
   1430 Broadway
   New York, NY 10018
   USA
   Phone (sales): (212) 642-4900
About $230US, plus shipping and handling
Outside the US, the ISO document will be available from your own national standards body. To find out the address of your national standards body, you could write to:
   International Organization for Standardization
   Central Secretariat
   1, rue de Varembi
   CH-1211 Genhve 20
   Switzerland

Both versions may also be available from:

   Global Engineering Documents
   2805 McGaw Ave
   Irvine, CA 92714
   USA
   (714) 261-1455

at a higher price but with quicker response.

ISO now has a home page.

The ordering information for the ISO version should be there. Note that the only differences between the ISO and ANSI versions of the SQL standards is the front matter and some references to other standards. The technical content is identical (it comes from the same source file.)

Please note: There is an amendment/correction to SQL-92. The ISO amendment applies to both the ANSI and ISO versions of the SQL standard.

SQL-86 Standard Available On-line in HTML Format!

ANSI has granted NIST a non-transferable license to make an HTML translation of SQL-86, the most obsolete of the SQL standards, available for demonstration purposes.

FIPS 127-2 Standard Available

The Federal Information Processing Standards Pulication 127-2, Standard for Database Language SQL, is available from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This standard promotes interoperability of SQL implementations and has basis in the SQL92 standard.
