OpenROAD Application Startup
I have seen a few emails on the OpenROAD Mailing List that talk about OpenROAD Startup times. This
is a white paper that
you are free to publish that describes the OpenROAD application
startup process. It is applicable
for OR 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.1 client/server applications.
This paper will probably raise more questions than it answers. It
should give some background
on what happens during OpenROAD Application Startup and potential
clues as to how it can be
improved. The trace information that is referred in this document is
not documented and was
designed for internal use.
We have also found that the running with the W4GL.LOG enabled slows
things down considerably
when multiple applications are running on the same machine. Use the
-L flag to specify a
unique W4GL.LOG if this is the case.
